Word is that Barry Werner was fired from his position as Head of WWE Magazine Publications because Vince McMahon did not like a lot of his recent covers, including one in particular. As we reported last week, Shane McMahon will be taking over most of Werner's duties.

According to an article on Hotel-Online.com the former hotel property once owned by WWE has once again undergone an ownership change. The then-WWF bought the property out of bankruptcy for $10.6 million in 1999 with plans to develop the property into a 35-story hotel with a wrestling theme. They sold the property a year later to Mark IV Realty of Chicago for $11 million. They were unable to develop the property themselves and recently sold it for $52 million.
Talk backstage at Smackdown this week was that Orlando Jordan may be the next in line to get the US title.

Justin Credible and Sabu have been contacted by Shane Douglas' to work his ECW reunion show. I'm sure WWE will try to get these guys for their PPV as well.

-- Right now there is a lot of confidence in Rey Mysterio as a centerpiece star on Smackdown as the year progresses. WWE management is happy with his reliability, professionalism, and of course the big pops he always gets. Right now his physical size is less of an issue than ever before, but to a point it will still hold him back.
When Guerrero realized that there weren’t any plans for him at WrestleMania 21, that’s when he and Mysterio started talking. They came up with the idea of teaming up for a while then breaking up, leading to a singles match at WrestleMania. Management liked the idea, and right now the plan is to have Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero at WrestleMania.
According to the WrestlingObserver, WWE has gone to war in its attempt to recruit former ECW talent for the ECW PPV, tentatively schedule for 6/12.
With Shane Douglas planning an ECW reunion show on 6/10, WWE is using Tommy Dreamer to court wrestlers away from Douglas' show. WWE has reached out to a number of wrestlers who it feels might otherwise consider working the 6/10 event.
It is known that Sandman was personally offered $5,000 to work WWE's version of the ECW reunion. One can only assume that the other wrestlers contacted also received simiar four-figure offers.
However, in the case of The Sandman, who is already a multi-millionaire thanks to his work in construction, money may not be the selling point for him. He has stated on various occasions that he pretty much only wrestles for his friends who are booking shows now.
Former TNA star Johnny Swinger who WWE signed recently, is good friends with Edge from their training days back in Toronto. So it's possible that WWE may put them in a program together on RAW and hope for some chemistry between them to resurrect from back when they broke into the business together.
Thanks to Brian for this:
WWE Women's champion Trish Stratus was on UK's Radio 1 eariler this afternoon. Here is a recap
- The show opens with Trish calling from a hotel room in State College, Pennsylvania in just black panties ('knickers' as she called them) while talking to them.
- Colin, commented to Trish that he has a cardboard cutout of her in the studio that replaces his co-host Edith - and she once kicked it for being jealous. Trish joked of going there and having a mud wrestling match with her.
- When asked what women she respected the most. Her answer was Lita & Victoria. Victoria because they went out and raised the bar with women's wrestling and Lita because they have a special relationship and fans really want to see them clash because they know what to expect.
- The subject of Playboy was brought up and why she hasn't done it yet with her character having the 'sl*t' tag. Trish, firstly joked of wanting to have a cool million and we'd might see a toe but in seriousness, she wanted to be remembered as Trish Stratus the great women's champion and not Trish Stratus the wrestler who was in Playboy.
- It was noted, Trish loves singing anything Shania Twain for karaoke.
- The show closes with Colin jokingly telling Trish to go put some clothes on.
