The Undertaker made a surprise appearance at OVW's training school yesterday to review the talent and make recommendations to the WWE office on whom should be called up to the main roster.
- Mark Henry tore his quad at practice late last week (in OVW) and required surgery to repair it.
- UPW's "Outlaws": Mike "Knox" Hettinga and Derrick Neikirk have signed with World Wrestling Entertainment and will soon be relocating to WWE's new Atlanta territory.
- Early estimates for the Royal Rumble PPV have the show drawing about 458,000 buys, or a 0.83 buy rate. If the numbers hold up, the PPV would be down 21.7% from last years 585,000 PPV buys.
The Rock is scheduled for an appearance on the "Opie and Anthony" XM Satelitte Radio show on premium channel 202 later this week. The hosts are known wrestling fans, so you can definitely expect some wrestling discussion on this interview, unlike the other mainstream appearances he's been making where wrestling seemingly isn't touched.
Following up on the story yesterday, Kane left the RAW tapings early on Monday in an attempt to travel out of Providence, Rhode Island before the storm that hit the Northeast on Monday, since he wasn't needed for television.
For those who care, Harry Slash, who's best known in wrestling circles for creating the ECW and Sabu theme songs (among other ECW tracks that were obtained by WWE) is now taking part in an All-Star Tribute CD for Guns N' Roses being put together by Versailles Records. More information on that can be found at SlashTones.com.
To those who saw the Chris Benoit vs. Muhammad Hassan match on RAW, you may have noticed a problem with the finish when Benoit hit the flying headbutt on Hassan, who was holding the ring bell.
Richard Trionfo wrote the following in his RAW report: "Benoit with two German suplexes, but Hassan holds on to the ropes. Benoit accidentally knocks the ref down. Daivari gives Hassan the ring bell. Benoit with a third German suplex. Benoit goes up top and hits the flying headbutt and hits the ring bell. Daivari gets the ring bell out of the ring. The ref recovers, but Benoit kicks out at two. Benoit with a forearm to Hassan followed by a chop. Hassan with a low kick and the ref calls for the bell."
The original plan was for Benoit to hit the ringbell when attempting the flying headbutt and then be pinned. Since Hassan didn't have the bell in position in time, WWE management changed plans on the spot live so Benoit didn't look weak and changed it to a DQ finish with the low blow. If you look closely, you can see Benoit throw his shoulders up immediately once he's given word, rather than wait for the dramatic last moment before the three count.
Several sources claim WWE management wasn't happy with having to change the finish like that, as they wanted Hassan to look strong and undefeated (with clean pinfalls) leading into his match at WrestleMania 21 next month. There is actually a lot of talk at this point that Hassan might be facing Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 21, in typical Hogan 'Mania fashion, "the real American hero" against the anti-American villain. That remains to be seen.

Hey, just thought I'd let you guys know that the scheduled main event for the live RAW at the BJCC Arena in Birmingham, AL is set to be Randy Orton vs Batista vs Triple H for the World Heayweight Championship in a triple threat match. It's very unlikely that this will be a televised title defense two weeks prior to WrestleMania, so my best assumption is that this will be a dark match after the show goes off the air, probably preparing Batista and Triple H for their WM21 match.
WWE superstars Al Snow and Scotty 2 Hotty will be appearing at Camp Snoopy at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Saturday to attempt to raise money for the Minnesota Make a Wish foundation. You can ride the "Twister" roller coaster ride with both superstars by making a $10 donation.
Billy Graham said in a WWE.com interview that he'd like to be the man who inducts Dusty Rhodes into the WWE Hall of Fame. Graham has been trying to get Rhodes to agree to come in for this year's inductions. It's up in the air right now as to where that situation stands.
Chris Jericho's band "Fozzy" will be the opening act for Motorhead (the band who does Triple H and Evolution's theme music for WWE) on April 1st, which is two days before WrestleMania 21, at the Wiltern LG in L.A., California. For those who haven't heard yet, Motorhead will be appearing at WrestleMania 21 to perform Triple H's theme music live.
Rob Van Dam will be appearing in Detroit at the World of Wheels auto show signing autographs both Friday and Saturday night from 7-9PM.
Derrick Neikirk and Mike Hettinga from UPW signed WWE developmental deals. They'll be headed to Atlanta soon to get some WWE training in.
