For those wondering, Melina is dating Johnny Nitro outside of the ring.
John Cena recently spoke out about the recent news that UPN would be moving SmackDown! from Thursday at 8:00PM EST. to Friday at 8PM EST. on an interview with The LAW radio show out of Canada.
Cena's initial reaction to the question about the move was, "if I could say every curse word in the cursing dictionary, I would do it. Let's just leave it at that."
The thing that seemed to bother Cena the most was the suddenness of the change. "The move came out of nowhere, that's what I'm most upset about. It didn't give us time to prepare. I read about it in a newspaper, that's how I found out. Why? Nobody else knew," said the WWE champion.
Despite his problem with UPN not giving WWE any warning, Cena isn't so quick to judge the move as a bad thing. He feels moving to Friday could be a positive thing because they don't have the same competition as they would on Thursday night, which is generally the main night of the week the major broadcast networks put up their best shows. Cena feels the biggest effect from the move will be getting all fans, not just the regular weekly viewers, but the ocassional viewers aware that they can't sit down Thursday and turn on UPN to watch wrestling, because "it's a Friday thing now, not a Thursday thing anymore."
He even talked about a main demographic that will be effected by this in what he feels is a positive way. "Kids won't have to wake up for school the next morning (now that we're on Friday's). We won't face Survivor, Friends, and them. Spoilers will be out another day on the internet. A lot of stuff weighs into effect from this move."
In his Calgary Sun column today, TJ Madigan has an interview with Chris Jericho where he talks about the rigors of being on the road constantly. He said, "There's nothing glamorous about the trips you have to make or the miles you put on over the years. There's a lot of waiting around and a lot of travel. Then throw in the injuries and the crap food you have to eat at Waffle House while you're on the road and, in the end, it's not quite as glamorous as you think."
