Reasons Why Austin Aries Shouldn't Have Won The Belt[/i][/u]
1. Austin Aries is nowhere near ready to carry a company with the world title. Yes he may be a decent wrestler....but to a casual fan...do they know who Austin Aries is? How can you market a man like that to boost your company and bring in more fans? He sourly lacks many essential skills that great champions have. And has nowhere the time expierience in the ring to carry the company.
2. They missed the boat with CM Punk. In a good column I read on Observer (I think) Punk is a man you can put on your posters for a show that grabs attention....like Joe...Aries is kinda blah.
3. The image of Samoa Joe has been degraded. What will he do next? How can you push a image of a man being unbeatable for 2 years then have him lose in a program? He's going to look very weak. I heard a good point that maybe this is Samoa Joe going to WWE. I see Samoa Joe "dissapearing" from ROH and going into "hiding" after being "distraught after losing the ROH title."
4. The image of the belt is degraded. You look at the long programs that Samoa Joe has had with Punk, Homicide and even the Briscoe Brothers. At the end of those it would have been the ultimate climax (especially with Punk) to finally get the belt. The Aries/Joe match felt like it was just slapped together and the belt put around Aries waist with no logic behind it.
5. Your killing Generation Next. This was getting to be a staple on ROH shows with clear cut heels in a company where because of how the fans act...it's sometimes hard to tell who's good and who's bad. These guys had put themselves way on the side of being bad and now are being split up. Maybe it's just me...but I think all good companies have their clear cut good guys and bad guys.....wrestlers that people should either boo or cheer....this is something ROH sourly lacks.
