Although he was successful in his first title defense on April 29 against Mikey Whipwreck, Mike Mondo could not overcome the seemingly unstoppable train of Matt Striker, who rode an unprecedented wave of adrenaline to outlast 31 other competitors and eventually defeat Mondo on April 30 in the final match of the weekend! However, as quickly as Striker became a fan favorite, he just as quickly became the most hated man in the arena, as he blatantly attacked Mondo following the match in an egregious display of disrespect. Now, Mondo has challenged the new champ to a rematch, and with tempers flaring, something big is bound to go down in Mondo/Striker 2!
NYWC TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Brian Myers & Brett Matthews vs Dickie Rodz & Mason Raige (c)
Their victory over Rodz and Raige this past March may have been a fluke, or it may have been the warning shot that everyone in the NYWC have been waiting for... Brian Myers and Brett Matthews have quickly become top players in the NYWC tag team division, and this is their first shot to prove themselves when the pressure is really on. On May 21, Myers and Matthews will be only a 3-count away from NYWC gold. But standing in their way will be Dickie Rodz and Mason Raige, the reigning NYWC Tag Team Champions and perhaps the most intimidating pair to ever hold the tag straps. Myers and Matthews will no doubt have their hands full as Rodz and Raige look to stop their short run of success dead in its tracks.
SAT's (Jose & Joel Maximo) vs Aerial Assault (Javi-Air & James Newblood)
Since making their debut only a few months ago, the SAT's have quickly made themselves a force to be reckoned with in the NYWC tag team ranks. Javi-Air and James Newblood, also known as Aerial Assault, have been wowing crowds with their acrobatics and high-flying offense, but so far is has not been enough to earn them a spot at the top of the division. A victory over the highly-respected SAT's, however, would certainly change things for the young duo. Can Javi and Newblood take that next step up the ladder, or will Jose and Joel Maximo make a major statement and shut down their speedy opponents?
